Weekly summary #12

Summary of the twelvth week of my #SeniorDevRevamp project. Just came back from the kind-of holidays, and everything started to go veeeeery faaaast.

Overall summary

This week was revolving around mock exams for AWS DEV cert. Except for the usual daily portion of ANKI flashcards, that was the only thing that I was doing. I mentioned previously, that I had purchased a lot of mock tests from TutorialsDojo, and also some on Udemy. They are not perfect (especially Udemy ones), but they give me a lot of additional knowledge, and insight into AWS.

I did not but mock tests for the Cloud Practitioner exam, as it was really introductory one, and I thought that would be a waste of money. However, this cert is not that easy, and purchasing all those tests was one of the best decisions I made during my preparation. From now on – every certificate I am planning to pass will be concentrated on as much mock tests as possible.

My AWS DEV exam is on Tuesday (3rd of September 2024). It will be also a challenging day for me personally (but that’s not the place to elaborate) – let’s hope that everything will go as planned. If not, well, there’s always a free retake available 😉

On the plus side – I got a huge boost in confidentiality, as I passed KCNA exam on Friday. It was my first experience with online testing, and it was an interesting experience. As I don’t like to repeat myself – here is a detailed story of my KCNA preparation.

Day by day list

• 26-08-2024: ANKI all over, and more. Did two mock tests for AWS Dev cert (both passed), so that’s a nice thing. Continued working on the AWS cheat-sheets.
• 27-08-2024: ANKI as usual. Did some additional YouTube videos related to X-Ray and some other topics. I have also registered for my KCNA exam, which will be taking place this Friday! Due to that, I did one more mock test for KCNA, and read some other materials about Kubernetes in general.
• 28-08-2024: Flashcards everywhere, and all the time 😉 Finished cheat-sheets for AWS DEV from TutorialsDojo, and did additional 2 mock exams for AWS Dev certs (both passed too).
• 29-08-2024: ANKI all over, and more. Another two mock exams for AWS DEV cert – both passed again. However, the total amount of flashcards added after those tests is quite big.
• 30-08-2024: First heavy day. Did my flashcards as usual, but then concentrated on the Kubernetes side, as my KCNA was today. Did last mock exam, studied all the flshcards related to KCNA. I still got some juice, so I passed another AWS Dev cert mock exam too. Finally the time has come for the KCNA – and I have passed! More on that here.
• 31-08-2024: For some time I will be avoiding KCNA related flashcards for sure 😉 However, all the others are on the go. I also did two additional AWS Dev cert mock exams, which gave me a panic attack, as my scores suddenly dropped below the passing threshold. Learning, learning, learning.
• 01-09-2024: New month has come. My routine does not change – flashcards repetition, and another mock exam for AWS Dev cert. It was a shorter one, and passed it with over 80% result. I decided to give myself some additional training with watching HUGE material from FreeCodeCamp on Youtube. Not the whole of course, but the sections I feel doubts about. As every weekend, I also spend some time catching up with all the resources I follow.
