Weekly summary #6

Summary of the sixth week of my #SeniorDevRevamp project.

Overall summary

AWS Dev Associate certification preparation is somehow over. I have finished the course on UDEMY! Bravo me! The plan right now is to concentrate on the wrapping-up, going through mock exams and reading additional content (like whitepapers). Still a lot of work ahead, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Except for AWS I have read “Mastering API Architecture”, and written a short review of it.. I liked that book – short, concise and to-the-point. In the book’s department, I have continued my on-off relationship with “Systems Design Interview part 1”. I enjoy reading it, because it gives me a unique opportunity to apply my lower-level knowledge (after reading Kleppmann’s book) in real scenarios. The path that I took (start low-level, and go up) is the approach I could recommend to everyone.

To put a cherry on top of this summary post – I have written a couple of short posts about TCP/IP, networking and stuff. I had this itch for a while. The feeling that I lack something in this area. As it was years since I have last touched upon the subject – this is the way to refresh some stuff. All the entries should be published this week, and the next one. 

Day by day list

• 15-07-2024: Caught up with all the old ANKI flashcards. Did two next chapters of the AWS course. Continued reading the “Mastering API Architecture” book, and did two chapters there accompanied with new flashcards being created. For fun (no notes/flashcards) I have started to read the “Systems Design Interview part 1” book.
• 16-07-2024: ANKI as usual. Code-solutions related chapter in the AWS course. Read additional three chapters from “Mastering API Architecture”, and continue the “Systems Design Interview part 1” book.
• 17-07-2024: ANKI as usual. Did the next three chapters in the AWS course, and quite a lot of additional reading/watching in the area. Read additional three chapters from “Mastering API Architecture” finishing it. I have written a review of it.
• 18-07-2024: ANKI as usual. Did the next three chapters in the AWS course (almost done there). Started writing short posts about TCP/IP and networking in the #BackToBasics series.
• 19-07-2024: ANKI as usual. Officially ended AWS Dev cert preparation course on UDEMY. Continued writing posts about networking in the #BackToBasics series. Finished the day with a couple of chapters from “Systems Design Interview part 1”.
• 20-07-2024: ANKI amounts are getting smaller, which is nice. I have spent the rest of the day reading/listening to lots of stuff from newsletters that came this week. Finished the day with a couple of chapters from “Systems Design Interview part 1”.
• 21-07-2024: ANKI in the morning. Then continued with additional read of the AWS services docs, and remaining newsletters and stuff. I couldn’t miss my everyday portion of “Systems Design Interview part 1” too.
